Need Some Advice- Please Chime In!

My outfit for Florida- I really need some input from you vets out there.

I generally race in a one piece swim suit (sprints-half IM). I am completely comfortable in my races when I wear one.

For the ironman, however, I had intended to wear some tri shorts and a cute tank/tri top. In my mind, I was going to create a super cute Splish top and combine it with some Desoto tri-shorts. I was going to wear this the WHOLE time- swim, bike run. (I don't want a lot of outfit type changes, and I generally just wear tri shorts instead of bike shorts).

The problem is this- Splish only makes the cute tanks for their sponsored athletes. So....what should I do now?

a. Find some other tri top. I would need to get some sort of crop top bikini to wear underneath for boob support? Plus tri shorts.

b. One- piece swimsuit? How do you guys feel about this for a full IM? (I love racing in a one piece, but I don't know how it will do in such a long race. Will my thighs rub together by mile 20 of the run? I know that would not be the bathing suit's fault, but rather the Taco Bell's fault).

c. Tri-suit? This was my least favorite option because it seemed the hardest to get on and off if I needed to hit the bathroom. But, I am open to suggestions at this point.

So, anyone that has an opinion or advice, please write in!!!

personally, I'm a trisuit fan. Once piece bathing suits chaffe on the bike for me, but you're right...having to pee while wearing a one piece trisuit is even more of a pain in the butt. From what I've heard in the past, you'll be wearing a wetsuit for IMFL so go for option A. Easy bathroom access, no bathing suit rub, and the most important...cute options. haha.

Personally I am CHOICE C...a tri suit. I LOVE LOVE LOVE mine. The advancement of Tri suits has been so awesome recently. I used to do all my racing in a bathing suit and when I did Kona in 04 I thought, "oh that may not be a good idea" and I wore my tri suit and it was SUPER. And, you know why? YOU never take your TRI suit off to PEE Ms. Damie...you just pee....yep....you pee on the bike as you are moving forward and same w/ the run...so you will be soaking wet anyway, so just pee. My fav tri suit is Kiwami.
Ok, how is that for you? HAHA! Jen H. :)

I vote for A as well.

The suit sounds fine for #1 but #2 could be a lengthy ordeal when you're grimy & tired. I was very glad to have, ahem, access during IMLP. I went with the highest quality tri shorts I could find and a team top.

Jennifer, I'm quite impressed. I don't think I could possibly pee while running. http://www.slowtwitch.com/mainheadings/coachcorn/evacuation.html

Also, I vote that you avoid high-fiber drinks like boost & ensure during the race! ;-)

Option A. I was too chicken not to change into bike shorts for the bike, but if you're already using tri shorts for long rides, option A all the way! :) (I too had nutrition issues that would have made Jen's suggestion, uh, uncomfortable at best...)

I bet you could get a blue desoto top and get Brent screenprint thunder racing if you're worried about that at all.

Go with A. I changed after the swim at IM Florida. I also had a bottle of water in the swim to bike bag to wash off in the changing tent. The last thing I wanted was the salt from the salt water to rub me raw all day. It's a 10+ hour race; take the extra minute in T1 to change.

One thing I've learned is to be SMART and COMFORTABLE for Ironman!! I'm with the girls...shorts are easier to pee in I think. Nows the time to try it out girl!

one time I was told I was being sacreligious because I refused to wear a dress to the grove/football game. there's a game this weekend. I think I'm going to come to memphis to swim instead. haha. not my cuppa tea.

OMG - how crazy scary how similar we think ;-) I am going with either the tankini and desoto tri shorts or the bikini top and tri shorts for the bike and putting on the cute bottoms for the run. See my blog post today, so funny!! Talk to you soon

Go with what you are MOST comfortable in. Bottom line. I usually keep the same top and swap the bottoms. But find YOUR COMFORT!!!

Looks like the tri-top/shorts combo is the winner followed by the tri-suit. I know I like desoto shorts...if anyone has suggestions on a great tri-top, please let me know.
Thanks everyone for the imput!
